The undisputed super middleweight champion will return on May 4 in Las Vegas where he will defend all four of his belts against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia. 

While this is a fight which will generate interest, Munguia is not the fighter many fans want to see Alvarez go up against. 

The one name which continues to follow Alvarez is David Benavidez, and once again the American has not been given the opportunity to face the pound-for-pound superstar. 

Frustration continues to grow amongst the boxing world with the failures to make Alvarez vs. Benavidez, and former two-weight world champion Andre Ward believes that if Alvarez does not take this particular fight in the future, it could damage his legacy. 

“Absolutely,” Ward told The Breakfast Club when asked about whether not facing Benavidez would affect the Mexican's legacy. 

“Canelo fans regularly call me a hater, but I am telling the truth.

"When he fought Kovalev, Kovalev was cooked. He wasn’t ‘The Krusher.’ He wasn’t the undefeated guy. He had lost that. I’m not knocking the hustle, but you lose me when you start saying, ‘I’m the best fighter in the world.’

“You lose me when you don’t fight the best but you say everybody else has got to fight the best.

“Canelo is a really good fighter, but you don’t know how good you are until you fight the other best.”
