Teddy Atlas is giving his backing to Deontay Wilder as the former heavyweight champion gets ready to face Derek Chisora in London this weekend, live on DAZN.

Wilder and Chisora have been linked to a huge showdown in previous years, but the veteran pair will finally do battle on Saturday as they each approach fight number 50.

For Wilder, he enters this contest after enduring a tough period in the sport just a few years after being the division's most devastating fighter.

At the start of 2020, Wilder held the WBC crown but then came two brutal stoppage losses to Tyson Fury in memorable encounters.

Those results would be followed up by further setbacks against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang and now he heads into the Chisora contest needing to win to enhance his stay in the sport.

Atlas, one of boxing’s shrewdest analysts and former trainer of Mike Tyson, has delivered his verdict on what he thinks could occur on Saturday night when the bell finally sounds to get the action underway.

“I'm not sure who has more left, but theoretically, it should be Wilder. He should have a little more left,” said Atlas when speaking to BetVictor Online Casino

“And if he does, the one thing he has is a right hand. Chisora throws round punches. That's not going to change. When he throws round punches, there's an opportunity to throw a straight punch. At the end of the day, I think that will play out. And because of that, I would probably favour Wilder.”
