Chris Eubank Jr. says he doesn't respect Conor Benn, expects fight 'to be a bloodbath'

There is no love lost between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn in the build-up to their April 26 bout, and on Thursday Eubank let his true feelings about his rival be known.
The duo have been embroiled in a years-long feud that continues the storied rivalry of their fathers, former world champions Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, although the younger fighters have yet to step into a ring together.
That doesn't mean the younger Eubank and Benn haven't found ways to make their own headlines — Tuesday's press conference was punctuated by an egg-filled slap delivered by Eubank across Benn's face that sent shockwaves around the world.
On Thursday, Eubank explained that the absurd nature of the build-up doesn't preclude the fight from being any less serious.
"This is a real fight," Eubank said at a press conference at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the venue that will host the April showdown. "This is going to be a bloodbath.
"This is going to be like the first fight between my father and Nigel Benn. This is going to be special."
That Eubank chose to invoke the first Chris Eubank Sr. vs. Nigel Benn fight, which ended in a TKO victory for his father after an intensely violent battle, was likely not unintentional. The 35-year-old has never hidden his disdain towards Benn, and he revealed on Thursday that he will be approaching the upcoming bout with no respect for his opponent.
"I've always respected every fighter I've fought, bar one," he said. "Respect, for me, is reserved for fighters who are true. Who don't don't cheat.
"If you cheat, I don't care many fights you've had, how brave you are, how well you've done, I don't respect you. So no, there is no respect in this fight."
