Yarde challenges WBC light heavyweight ruler David Benavidez in the main event of Saturday's landmark Ring IV: Night of Champions card in Riyadh, and for the Briton it will be the third time he's fought for a world title.

The first came back in 2019 when Yarde lost to then-WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev. Yarde also got a shot at the unified WBC, IBF, and WBO title in 2023 but was stopped in the eighth round by Artur Beterbiev.

Now 34, Yarde gets another shot at championship glory when he meets Benavidez, and the London native is crystal clear about his ambitions for this fight.

"I need to become world champion," Yarde told the DAZN broadcast at Wednesday's Open Workouts . "I've got to become world champion."

That desire will be fuelling Yarde when he steps into the ring in Saudi Arabia for his second fight of 2025, after he defeated frequent foe Lyndon Arthur by unanimous decision in April.

With four consecutive victories after falling to Beterbiev, Yarde believes now is his time to shine.

Facing an undefeated champion in Benavidez who moved up to 175 lbs after a successful reign in super middleweight, Yarde knows that the challenge to unseat the current WBC champion is a stern one.

But he believes the stars have aligned for him to finally realize his dream.

"I'm getting the victory. That's all that's on my mind," he said. "How it happens, we don't know, but this fight just feels right.

"I can't explain it, but everything — the way this all happened, the occasion — it seems like it's right."
