Derek Chisora will return to the ring for the second time this year in Manchester, for what looks set to be the final fight of the veteran heavyweight's long and impressive career.

A domestic fan-favourite for the best part of two decades, the seasoned star will fight in Manchester on December 13, as part of a bill featuring rising talent Moses Itauma too.

The pair are not expected to face off, with Chisora - at one point IBF mandatory challenger this year - likely to head in another direction as he seeks to secure a fairytale finish.

Any hopes of a showreel knockout however could well be beyond the 41-year-old now, who has gone the distance in his past three fights and earned his wins on points alone.

But what can Chisora take from his wins over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin as he seeks to secure a top-drawer send-off? DAZN News studies the form book.

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn 2

Gerald Washington (Unanimous Decision, 10 Rounds, The O2 Arena, London, August 2023)

It seems strange to remember that Chisora's career hung by a thread as a serious operator heading into this contest, with only one win in his prior five sojourns into the ring.

After losses to Oleksandr Usyk, Joseph Parker (twice) and in his WBC title fight with Tyson Fury, many had called for the star to duly retire and hang up his gloves for good.

Instead, Chisora faced another struggling face in American Washington, and comprehensively outboxed him over ten rounds in to revive his career even with an early cut.

Perhaps aided by his opponent's unwillingness to engage for long stretches, he was able to dictate the flow and prevent his foe's rhythm. He will need to do the same here.

Joe Joyce (Unanimous Decision, 10 Rounds, The O2 Arena, London, July 2024)

A bout that Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren described as half-a-decade in the making after Chisora returned to the fold, this proved to be a full-on domestic war.

The veteran played mind games in the build-up, trying to get under the skin of the former Olympic hero - and come the night itself, looked like he might have earned the edge.

The first half of the fight mostly spoke to Chisora's durability - a harder element to preserve the older he gets - before a ninth-round knockdown helped him take the scorecards.

Stats after the fight showed that while he landed significantly less punches, his accuracy proved superior. Similar selection rather than workrate could be crucial once again.

Otto Wallin (Unanimous Decision, 12 Rounds, Co-op Live, Manchester, February 2025)

Chisora's most recent bout and what was meant to be his British farwell came against the hard-hitting Swede, whose only prior losses were against Anthony Joshua and Fury.

As much a celebration of the star's lasting power as an unexpected cult hero, it proved to be another slugfest that went the distance, with the biggest reminder of his power.

An early head clash nearly curtailed the night, but Chisora soldiered on, following an eight-round barrage with knockdowns in the ninth and 12th to secure another UD victory.

This IBF eliminator illustrated that the star can still put his opponents on the canvas, but perhaps only after working them hard. Chisora will need to be intelligent next time out.
