Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder have been fan favourites in the heavyweight division for over a decade strong.

Tonight, one will fall, as Chisora clashes with Wilder at London’s O2 Arena, and exclusively live on DAZN PPV.

At 42, ‘War’ Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) has been riding a wave of resurgence lately, having won three straight fights including the unanimous decision he managed against Otto Wallin in February 2025. This fight against Wilder will mark Chisora’s 50th professional bout.

Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs), although successful in stopping Tyrrell Anthony Herndon in June, has lost four of his last six fights and three of those defeats have come by the way of knockout, raising concern over whether the former WBC heavyweight world champion, at 40, should continue with his career.

With this heavyweight tilt bound to deliver fireworks, DAZN News examines who has the edge heading into this weekend's blockbuster.

Boxing Styles

Derek ‘War’ Chisora does not waste time bringing the fight to opponents, getting inside their chests with pressure. Considering he’s at a nine-inch reach deficit against Deontay Wilder, manufacturing this phone booth action inside of the former WBC heavyweight world champion’s long jab will be vital. Chisora does his best work in cramped quarters, unloading heavy artillery to opponents’ head and body.

His style will be up against the knockout artistry of Wilder who enjoys creating from the outside, making use of his reach and that thunderous right hand which can end any fight in a flash.

This styles matchup is intriguing as both men have the glowing positives to their fight games. However, the slight push could reside in Chisora’s ability to muscle his way inside, where the likes of Zhilei Zhang, Joseph Parker and Tyson Fury have all had success against ‘The Bronze Bomber.’ Chisora can too, as long as he's mindful of his guard while fighting forward.

Edge: Chisora

Power

One can never discount the power of a heavyweight. Practically anyone in the division can dramatically alter the course of a fight with his punching power - Chisora and Wilder included.

That said, Wilder’s power is different. It's generational and transcendent. Of the former heavyweight champ’s 44 pro wins, 43 have come by the way of stoppage for a ridiculous knockout ratio of nearly 98 percent.

He possesses arguably the greatest single-punch power in boxing history with that right hand, which at his height demolished through nine title defenses via knockout.

Both Chisora and Wilder have the punching pop to stop each other, though the latter’s power is something of legend, still carrying its lustre.

Edge: Wilder

Mental Warfare

Chisora, 42, has defeated Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin in his last three fights with the unanimous decision win over Joyce in the summer of 2024 truly being a hallmark of his iconic career. Confidence comes with a streak like this, especially at his age where he has accrued invaluable ring savvy and guile.

Meanwhile, Wilder has lost four of his last six fights and three of those defeats have come by the way of knockout. And these were rough knockouts to watch - the kind that could take rounds off a fighter's life.

Chisora and Wilder have kept it pretty cordial during this buildup thus far, though that will change the second the bell tolls tomorrow night in London.

Both icons have shared the ring with some of boxing’s all-time best. If there’s a slight edge in mental warfare, it might reside in Chisora and Wilder trending in opposite directions. The slim nod here goes to Chisora.

Who has the edge in Chisora vs. Wilder?

In a matchup that pits Chisora’s dogged punching persistence and might against Wilder’s single-shot dynamite, this heavyweight thriller could be decided between who strikes first. DAZN News is giving the slight edge to Chisora, 2-1, though Wilder - as he has done many times over his career - can change that projection with arguably the greatest eraser boxing has ever seen.
