On Saturday, the path to an undisputed welterweight champion became more apparent as IBF/WBC champion Errol Spence Jr. took on WBA (super) titlist Yordenis Ugas from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Spence showed why he's "The Truth" as he beat Ugas from pillar to the post with one heavy power shot after another to shut the Cuban's right eye and forced the ringside doctor to stop the fight at the 1:44 mark of the tenth round and Spence gained the WBA belt and retained his IBF/WBC titles. DAZN had the fight scored 88-83 at the time of the stoppage.

Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) looked sharp from the opening bell and didn't look like someone who was only fighting for the second time since September 2019. He fought on the inside and landed various power shots to the body and upstairs to confuse Ugas and take him out of his comfort zone.

The only time Spence was in any trouble was in the sixth round when a short right uppercut from Ugas sent his mouthpiece flying out of his mouth. He had a momentary lapse of being caught off guard and blasted a right hand which sent Spence back to the ropes.

All that did was infuriate Spence, who had supreme focus and went back to what he did in the previous five rounds to the point where Ugas' right eye was swollen shut by the end of the eighth round. Spence closed the show in the tenth when a right uppercut hurt Ugas. Nevertheless, he continued to pound away, and Ugas went into a shell. The referee sent the former champion to the ringside doctor, who said Ugas could no longer continue seeing out of one eye.
