George Liddard has the threat of Tyler Denny in front of him tonight when he defends his British middleweight title in London, live on DAZN.
Despite that menacing proposition awaiting him, Liddard, focusing intently on that battle, has named one fighter he would like to test himself against in the future.
Liddard burst onto the scene last October when he became domestic champion following a wonderful performance against the much more experienced Kieron Conway.
The young fighter impressed throughout the contest and after dominating for large periods he eventually scored a stoppage in the latter stages.
To build on his momentum, Eddie Hearn, Liddard’s promoter, was hoping to match his fighter against former world champion, Liam Smith.
The Liverpool man, who has shared the ring with Canelo Alvarez and Chris Eubank Jr., has not fought since facing Aaron McKenna in April 2025, and it is still unknown what his next move will be.
Liddard is a huge admirer of Smith, and he has revealed that he would like the opportunity to test himself against the one-time super-welterweight ruler.
“Listen, I’m one of these fighters who will fight anyone they want me to fight,” Liddard told DAZN News.
“If it makes sense then I’m there. Liam Smith is someone I would definitely love to share the ring with. He’s a legend in British boxing and to share the ring with him would be amazing.”
