The year 2026 could be a big one for Giorgio Visioli, but when it comes to his fights, getting the highlight reel knockouts are not the priority.
In December, Visioli won his first title after beating Joe Howarth to become the English lightweight champion. Tonight, Visioli makes his first defence, live on DAZN, when he faces Levi Giles on the undercard of George Liddard vs. Tyler Denny.
Undefeated in his 10 professional bouts, Visioli is one of Matchroom’s brightest prospects, but is he concerned about creating those viral knockouts which gain the attention of fight fans, both at home and across the world?
Speaking to DAZN News, Visioli just wants to produce a good performance, and add another win to his record.
“Just get the win and look good doing it, whatever happens, happens,” Visioli said.
“As an amateur I wasn’t the biggest KO artist, so I don’t like saying I’m going to knock him out, I don’t really like to go looking for it.”
In the build-up to this evening’s meeting with Giles, Visioli stated that he wanted to ‘do damage’.
But while Visioli does not place all his efforts in searching for the knockout, he believes it is only a matter of time until his speed and accuracy get his first win inside the distance for the first time in three fights.
“With my speed and accuracy, people will walk on to it, it will be a matter of time until someone does so.
“I’ll put a masterclass on as always, and do damage, if I don’t do that, he’ll do exactly the same.
“We’re in the hurt business.”
If Visioli gets past Giles, he is hoping to have similar activity levels to last year where he fought five times.
With an English title around his waist, Visioli needs to push on, and it looks like another title challenge is being planned for the end of the year.
“I’ve had discussions with my team, with Matchroom, with my manager Anto that we will definitely be trying to look for the British title at the end of year.
“After this, have two more, or maybe one more before fighting for the British.
“There’s also links to me and that American Curmel Moton so I’m down to fight him whenever.”
