Now that he's back in the winner's circle, what is next for the British welterweight?

DAZN News gives three options on what could be in store for Jack Catterall.

Josh Taylor

This is the fight which makes the most sense for Catterall, who was one bad judges scorecard away from becoming the undisputed junior welterweight champion in February 2022. Unfortunately, they didn't meet again until May 2024. This time around, things went Catterall's way as he won by unanimous decision.

While Taylor did lose in his last time out in May over Ekow Essuman, it still makes the most logical sense for him as well, since it's a fight many boxing fans still want to see. The trilogy is the biggest marquee and money-making bout for both guys. And when they can make the type of money they'd make, more often than not, it gets done. 

Rolly Romero

Romero is right now the most vulnerable welterweight champion, having won a secondary WBA title against Ryan Garcia back in May. He's expected to be elevated to full titleholder as Jaron Ennis is moving up to 154 pounds going forward. Romero draws a lot of eyeballs and is currently without a dance partner as WBO titlist Brian Norman is facing Devin Haney in November, and WBC titleholder Mario Barrios is facing Manny Pacquiao on July 19. 

So why not Catterall? 

Harlem Eubank

This is the most unlikely option. 

Based on Catterall's comments and especially his promoter, Eddie Hearn's, remarks after the fight, it appears to be nothing more than a pipe dream, regardless of how much Eubank wants the sequel. Yes, the fight got stopped early, but Catterall was still ahead on all three scorecards and had things in control.

The only way Catterall-Eubank 2 happens is if Catterall doesn't get either one of the aforementioned contests or ends up with zero options.
