'The next 24 months!' - Jake Paul issues bold cruiserweight title claim after Mike Tyson victory

Jake Paul believes he can become a world champion at cruiserweight in the next two years after he defeated Mike Tyson in their bout on Friday.

The Problem Child was a comfortable victor against The Baddest Man on the Planet at AT&T Stadium , scoring a win by unanimous decision.

Though the bout drew criticism for its low-wattage display , the result nevertheless extended the YouTuber-turned-boxer's professional record to 11-1.

Speaking afterwards, Paul reiterated previous suggestions that he could bid for a world title, suggesting it could happen before the end of 2026.

"I think it could happen in the next 24 months," he said when asked on his credentials. "I truly, truly believe in my skills, my ability and my power.

"The cruiserweight division is seemingly open for the taking on that timeline, and I believe can become a world champion.

"[If I] do it within six years of starting to learn to throw a f***ing jab, I think it will be the greatest sports story ever. I know it's going to happen."

Despite Paul's claims, the cruiserweight division currently is enjoying something of a revival, with a blockbuster bout set for Saturday on DAZN for free .

Gilberto Ramirez and Chris Billam-Smith will meet in a unification battle atop Riyadh Season Latino Night, with their WBA and WBO titles on the line.

Additionally, the winner could seek a further unification fight with Jai Opetaia, while Oleksandr Usyk could potentially drop back to his former division too.
