The New Zealander, a former WBO world champion, has been forced to play the long game after missing out on title shots against Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk.

Now, he has a chance to cement himself as the main credible challenger to the latter, yet the unbeaten Briton in his way has aspirations of his own to take the crown too.

Few fighters at the top table have rebuilt their reputation quite like the Kiwi, and many feel he is hard done by to not be facing Usyk next after his gripping work.

But Parker's resume has shown he can navigate the banana-skins thrown his way, having scored brutal stoppages over Faiga Opelu and Simon Kean in 2023.

A points win over Deontay Wilder that Christmas was followed by his only fight of 2024, a majority decision over Zhilei Zhang where he survived two knockdowns.

Parker was due a world title shot against Daniel Dubois last February, before the Briton fell ill, and he duly dispatched replacement Martin Bakole in two rounds.

Fabio Wardley (19-0-1)

A white-collar fighter turned impressive professional, Wardley may not carry the pedigree some of the sport's most seasoned operators but still remains a threat.

Having built his way through the ranks, his 2022 win over Nathan Gorman sealed the British title before knockouts over Michael Polite Coffie and David Adeleye.

A surprise draw with Frazer Clarke seemed to check momentum for the star, but Wardley susbequently put him down inside to silence the doubters in style.

His toughest test came against relatively unheralded Justis Huni in a Portman Road homecoming this past June - but a now-legendary late KO ensured success.
