One of 2023's most eagerly anticipated fights is the long-awaited rematch between WBO super lightweight champion Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall.

The pair went head-to-head last year in Glasgow in a contest which saw Taylor emerge as the victor via a controversial split decision.

Now the two Brits will meet in a rematch later this year to settle the score and Taylor reflected on the first fight during an interview with Sky Sports News.

"I've been waiting on this for a long time I've had to let go of belts, I've had to let go of all my belts near enough, I've got the WBO left, just to make this fight happen and prove that I'm a real champion," Taylor said.

One thing that will have changed for Taylor since the first fight will be the head trainer in his corner.

Ben Davison was the man in charge for the first meeting, but since then the Scotsman has enlisted the coaching services of Joe McNally and Taylor believes that this should be the fresh approach he needs to beat Catterall in convincing fashion.

"I just needed a fresh change up in my approach to things," Taylor responded when asked about the change in trainer.

"I just felt in my previous camp I was getting taken away from what my natural qualities are and sort of changing my style a little bit too much. I need to get back to my own self.

"I think what I had achieved in 18 fights and in only four or five years as a professional, becoming an undisputed champion, no one's ever done it before in the UK in the four belt era, creating a massive part of history, I just got a little bit complacent."
