'We've already had a dance!' - Josh Warrington teases next foe for blockbuster domestic rematch

Josh Warrington aims to face Leigh Wood in a rematch next year, with the former featherweight world champion telling DAZN News he hopes to contest a blockbuster bout.
The Leeds Warrior fell to a fourth career defeat at Riyadh Season Card - Wembley Edition when he lost by unanimous decision against Anthony Cacace in September.
It marked a third straight loss for Warrington, having been defeated by Luis Alberto Lopez in late 2022 before he faced Wood for the WBA featherweight title in October 2023.
Having landed twice as many punches as his rival, the 34-year-old was floored in a seventh-round TKO defeat, but now admits he hopes to face the fellow Briton again.
"I was chatting with my manager, Frank Smith and Eddie Hearn to see what’s out there for me," he told DAZN News. "I know there’s another fighter who’s been inactive.
"We’ve already had a dance in the past. I don’t feel like he’s got a fight, so it would make sense. If you don’t know who I’m talking about there.
"If we’re talking about domestic fights and big fights for the UK, then I think that’s one right there. We’ve got a bit of history, and it’s appealing for the boxing fans.
"Something like that would make sense. If not, we’ll look elsewhere. But I’ll sit down with everyone else around and see where we go.
Warrington, who previously revealed that he intends to fight on despite leaving his gloves on the canvas at Wembley Stadium, admits he wants to exit on his own terms.
"I don’t think I can end on the note that I did, when I got bashed up," he added. "Cacace is a fellow who destroyed Joe Cordina, and he couldn’t do the same with me.
"I’m still here, and I’d like to finish on a high. But I also want to be in fights that people want to see. As I said, there’s a fight right there with Leigh Wood."
Wood has not fought since defeating Warrington last year, and vacated the title after he made the move up to super-featherweight, with Nick Ball the current IBF champion.
