But now with the two set to meet at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night live on DAZN, fans and experts are beginning to wonder who has more to prove in this historic moment for the sport.

Speaking on the latest instalment of JABS, Sergio Mora believes it is Serrano, for a number of reasons. 

"I think Amanda Serrano because not only is she going to be in her hometown of New York City, she’s going to be fighting at the ‘Mecca’, but it took her a long time to get here. It took her twice the time to get to this position," Mora said. 

"Over 40 fights for Amanda Serrano, seven championships in seven divisions, but a handful of those were vacant titles.

"When it comes to Katie Taylor, she took the golden route to success. She got the gold medal round her neck, she became undisputed, a two division world champion, still undefeated, she took the Sugar Ray Leonard route to the top.

"Amanda Serrano took the blue collar route, the Marvin Hagler route, she’s always going to have to work harder and fight harder to get the attention and get the decisions."

DAZN's Chris Mannix on the other hand, believes it is Taylor who has got more to prove come April 30 as she looks to silence the critics who claim she is not the fighter she once was. 

"If this was two years ago, I would’ve agreed with you unequivocally, I do still think there’s a lot to prove if you’re Amanda Serrano," Mannix began. 

"But over the last couple of years the Katie Taylor sceptics seem to have come out of the woodwork.

"People that think she’s lost a step, that she’s past her prime, because she’s been in tough fights against Delfine Persoon and she hasn’t knocked out Miriam Gutierrez that she is somehow a faded version of her former self.

"I don’t believe that she is and I think this is the fight that she is going to go out there and try to prove it.

"I think Taylor needs to show the world that at 35 years old, she is still very much at the top of her game.

"The reason why she hasn’t looked as dominant in recent fights is because she’s fought some really good fighters, women who have been on most of the pound-for-pound lists.

"I think Katie Taylor needs to and is going to show that she is not some faded version of her former self and she is still very much worthy of being called the number one women’s fighter in the sport."
