Nahir Albright bit down hard to mount a rally in the 10th round by putting Frank Martin on jelly legs via a pair of sweeping left hooks.
If only Albright had bit down on his mouthpiece, which came loose twice in roughly 30 seconds of the fight’s final round, momentarily halting his momentum each time.
Still, Albright’s success in the 10th paved the way for all three judges inside of T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to score it 95 apiece for a unanimous draw in a hard-fought super lightweight scrap on DAZN PPV.
“If my mouthpiece didn’t fall out, y’all know what would have happened,” Albright told DAZN’s Chris Mannix in the ring following the draw. “But it was a great fight, and I think we should run it back.”
Martin was with the idea for a rematch as well.
Martin’s poise and power were met with Albright’s awkward persistence and savvy, resulting in an intriguing styles clash that went the distance with each man having his share of success.
After close action throughout, a firefight broke out in the seventh round with Martin getting the better of the exchanges to arguably nip the frame.
Albright roared back in the eighth round, though Martin did his best work in the ninth, seemingly on the precipice of victory before Albright found a home with his left hook in the final round.
Despite neither man getting his hand raised, both Martin (19-1-1, 13 KOs) and Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs) showed how tough of an out they are at 140 pounds.
Albright entered the ring to the sounds of the legendary Whitney Houston and after the draw, serenaded the crowd by singing himself.
