Scottish featherweight Nathaniel Collins hopes a change to his discipline can be the difference in his rematch against Cristobal Lorente in Glasgow.
Six months after their first meeting ended in a draw, Collins and Lorente will run it back on Friday night, live on DAZN, with the winner earning themselves a world title shot.
Collins was left distraught after drawing with Lorente, and at Wednesday's press conference, the Scotsman was composed and calm in front of the media.
While Collins was very emotional in the immediate aftermath of his draw with Lorente, he has since used the experience as an opportunity to learn and improve his skills inside the ring.
Collins was in control for the first half of the fight, but the sixth session, which was a Round of the Year contender, saw Lorente gain some much needed momentum, and resulted in the victory slipping away from Collins' grasp.
The 29-year-old acknowledged the flaws in his performance, revealing that his emotions got the better of him and had a detrimental effect on the final result.
"I’m looking forward to running it back. It’s what needed to happen," Collins said when reflecting on the first Lorente fight.
"It was a massive lesson for me, don’t let my heart rule my head, don’t get too caught up, don’t get involved.
"This time we will be sticking to the gameplan, and the victory will come."
Some of Collins' training camp has been taking place in Los Angeles, and he used this opportunity to face some of the best the featherweight division has to offer.
If his words are to be believed, Collins has improved his discipline. Therefore, if Friday's rematch with Lorente is not going his way, Collins is confident he will not get frustrated and continue carrying out the strategy devised by his team.
"I’m much more disciplined. We were over in LA sparring ex-world champions at featherweight, I’ve learned a bit about patience and discipline, that will take over this time."
