Frazer Clarke believes that Daniel Dubois had nothing to do with a pre-fight gathering reportedly held at his house before his loss to Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.
The Briton was stopped in five rounds by the Ukrainian at Wembley Stadium to end his reign as IBF champion, as his rival secured the undisputed heavyweight crown.
His defeat was cast into further question when footage subsequently emerged of what appeared to be a party held seemingly at the fighter's residence hours before the bout.
Now, former Team GB star Clarke, a bronze-medal winner at Tokyo 2020, has weighed in, questioning the decision-making process from Dubois' team while defending the star.
"[Trainer] Don Charles is saying it is the same thing they did before the AJ fight, and I suppose it is whatever you like as a fighter," he told The Stomping Ground.
"But there seems to be a lot coming from people who aren't Daniel. I don't want to jump to conclusions until Daniel has had his say on it, but for me personally, that wouldn't work.
"But if it worked for a previous fight, why wouldn't you try and recreate that sort of environment going into your next fight? For me, it would be a no-go.
"I'd rather be on time, I like everything to run like clockwork. Sometimes, it isn't going to work like that. I'd rather be there earlier than later. Turning up late would give me anxiety.
"That's the last thing I'd want. When you go against someone who has beat you, you've got to be on your A-game. I don't believe it was any of Daniel's doing."
