Oscar Collazo started his fight against Jesus Haro boxing relatively calmly Saturday night.
However, as the third round came around, the Puerto Rican sensation started to sit on his punches some more, especially to the body, and really leverage their maximum impact. By the end of the sixth round, Haro couldn't take any more as his corner stopped the fight, giving Collazo his fourth straight stoppage victory and a successful defense of his WBA and WBO strawweight titles.
The rousing body attack at Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and live on DAZN, took place in chief support to the Arnold Barboza Jr. vs. Kenneth 'Bossman' Sims main event, adding to Collazo's growing star power.
Having thoroughly decimated yet another opponent, Collazo (14-0, 12 KOs) set his sights on a rematch with Melvin Jerusalem, the WBC strawweight world champion, next. Collazo told DAZN he will be looking for Jerusalem to defend his title against Siyakholwa Kuse in May to make their rematch certain.
When they fought back in May 2023, Collazo forced a stoppage.
A rematch would grant the winner three of the four titles needed toward reaching undisputed glory at 105 pounds — boxing's minimumweight division.
