Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin fancies himself against some of Britain's top heavyweights.

Tyson Fury defends his WBC heavyweight title against Dillian Whyte in an all-British showdown at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night. Wallin is eager to keep himself in the mix facing some of the division's biggest names.

"It's good for me to be here and keep myself in the mix," Wallin told Sky Sports.

Wallin is a former opponent of Fury and gave the world's number one heavyweight a tough test. The Swede cut Fury badly in the third round three years ago, which made some think the fight should have been stopped. However, the contest went 12 rounds, with Fury being declared the winner on points.

While the decision became the first professional loss on Wallin's record, he believes that particular performance has given him the confidence to challenge at the highest level.

"I think after the Fury fight, people started doing that [recognizing him as a threat]," Wallin said. "Maybe some people aren't convinced yet, but I will convince them also. It's been hard for me to get fights lately. I just want to stay active and busy, keep making my way up the rankings, and get a shot.

"I don't think I'm going to get it for free. With Fury, it seems like he's forgotten my name after the fight because he hasn't mentioned me once, so that's the way I've got to do it. I've got to make my way up the rankings."

Last October, Wallin was scheduled to face Whyte before an injury forced 'The Body Snatcher' to withdraw and instead focus on a world title opportunity. Potential plans were to face Anthony Joshua while the Olympic gold medalist awaited an update on a contractual rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, but this never came to fruition.

"It wasn't very close," he admitted. "Yes, because Usyk hadn't made a decision yet. If he would have said no, I think I would have been one of the guys to step in.

"I didn't speak to them [Joshua's camp] personally. I just think they were just waiting for a decision from Usyk, and then they would take it from there."
