Ryan Garcia says Gervonta Davis shouldn't underestimate him

Ryan Garcia doesn't have a fight set up with WBA world 135-pound champion Gervonta Davis, but that hasn't stopped him from scouting out a potential matchup.

Garcia doesn't want to give out too much information, he said on the latest episodes of "Stars And Champions," but one thing that would come into play is Davis' height: 5-6. Garcia has four inches on the 25-year-old left-hander.

Davis is 23-0 and has ended every match but one with a knockout. Garcia's record isn't far off Davis' — 20-0 with 17 knockouts — but the 21-year-old still thinks Davis doesn't view him as a challenge.

"What I know for a fact, what Gervonta is thinking in his mind, 'This boy is too small. I’m gonna walk right through him,'" Garcia said on "Stars And Champions," via Boxingscene.com. "And then, that’s the question. Will he walk right through me? I know for a fact he won’t. But we have to wait and see. He has to come [within] reach. There’s no doubt about it. He’s shorter than me. He has to reach to hit me. Can you land that punch? I’m not a dumb fighter. I’m gonna see a punch coming."

The two have gone back and forth on Twitter, but nothing has been scheduled in the ring.

Davis is expected to fight Leo Santa Cruz (37-1-1) for Santa Cruz's WBA "super" 130-pounds title. A date hasn't been scheduled, but it's expected to be in the fall.

Garcia had a tweet indicating he could return to the ring July 4, but nothing has been finalized.

Whenever Davis and Garcia do fight, Garcia seems to be ready.

"And he doesn’t have no tricks," Garcia said. "He ducks down and comes up every time, and just lays in. He has good timing — I’ll give him that. But I’m not gonna fall for a fake to the body, coming up to the top. I'm just not. It's the only trick he does. I'm not gonna fall for that. But we'll see. Maybe he has other little tricks up his sleeve, but I don't believe so."
