Tyson Fury insists he would rather face Anthony Joshua than launch another heavyweight title bid - though he is not ruling the latter out.
'The Gypsy King' returns from retirement next month as he takes on Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Long-mooted plans for a super-bout with rival Joshua could be back on track after the latter's return to training following a fatal car crash.
Fury could however also face the winner of Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois' WBO title clash, set for Manchester's Co-op Live in May.
Despite the allure of another crown however, Joshua remains the priority for the veteran, though he also wants an Oleksandr Usyk trilogy.
"The biggest fight for me in world boxing, and the biggest fight in the world of boxing is me versus AJ," Fury stated to Sky Sports News.
"Even today, even after all these years it's still the biggest fight in boxing. After that, it would be versus Usyk or the [Wardley-Dubois] winner.
"They're all options because nothing's promised. I think the fans are more interested in me and Joshua in the street rather than another world title."
"Three-time world champion [has] got a good ring to it. But five-time world champion or the chance to knock AJ out? I'd take the chance to knock AJ out.
"It's always nice to be a world champion. But it's not the be all and end all once you've won all the belts before, which I have."
It doesn't get more clear-cut than Tyson Fury stating he would rather beat Anthony Joshua than have another world title to know where he stands.
After years of back-and-forth pursuits that have always ended in failure, 'The Gypsy King' appears ready to move heaven and earth for this fight.
Whether he does is another matter - Fury's gift and grift of the gab is famously mix-and-match, after all - but it surely should thrill his supporters.
For both men, each other remains the white whale in two impressive heavyweight careers - and a chance to define their legacy may yet loom.
