It's very possible Tyson Fury could have a warm-up bout before facing Anthony Joshua at the end of this year.
It was announced earlier this week that a deal had been signed for the two British rivals to meet in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Before Fury and Joshua meet in the ring, the latter will make a comeback on July 25, live on DAZN.
Joshua will be facing Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in what will be his first outing since being involved in a tragic card accident in December.
Fury came out of retirement once again earlier this month when he beat Arslanbek Makhmudov on points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
While Fury got the victory, there were some concerns as to whether he is ready to face Joshua in a long-awaited showdown.
With October or November being touted as a possible date, Fury will trying to avoid inactivity ahead of what would be a legacy defining fight.
Speaking to the media, including DAZN News, Fury's promoter Frank Warren confirmed that Fury will likely take a warm-up bout before facing Joshua.
“I think he will probably want to be doing something in between, let’s see," Warren said.
"AJ has got his fight. Tyson, I’m quite sure will have a fight in between, that’s what he’s asking for and we’ll see where we go from there."
When a Fury warm-up fight would take place is unknown with a boxing schedule which has taken shape for much of the summer.
There is also the difficulty of finding a worthy opponent who would not be a danger to Fury with a defeat jeopardising the Joshua deal and one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.
