At the beginning of August, one week after Davis (22-0, 21 KOs) plowed through Ricardo Nunes in his hometown of Baltimore, "Tank" did an interview with TMZ saying he's ready to take on the guy boxing pundits feel is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

"I think I have enough skills," Davis told TMZ. "I’m maturing as a fighter, as a person. I think it’s time." 

How does Lomachenko feel about taking Davis on? While he's focused on Saturday's lightweight title unification bout with Luke Campbell in London, Lomachenko (13-1, 10 KOs) likes the idea of the challenge vs. Davis.

“It’s a very interesting fight. I want this fight,” Lomachenko said in a Q&A session with media and fans, of his desire to face Davis. “I’m enjoying it. I’m ready 100 percent (for Campbell). We train hard, and I love boxing and hard preparation.” 

There's no inclination if Davis and Lomachenko will square off next if the latter gets by Campbell. Davis has been linked to a possible unification clash with IBF titlist Tevin Farmer or a title defense against Yuriorkis Gamboa. Meanwhile, if Lomachenko wins this weekend, it could set up an undisputed title fight against the winner of IBF titleholder Richard Commey and Teofimo Lopez, which is expected to occur by the end of the year.
