An explosive heavyweight encounter is set to take place next month as Fabio Wardley makes the first defence of his WBO heavyweight title against Daniel Dubois in Manchester on May 9.
Both fighters enter the contest fully aware of what it takes to win at the highest level, and a knockout finish appears likely as tow of the division's biggest punchers go at it with a big prize on the line.
Wardley goes into the bout in terrific form following a superb 2025 where he enjoyed impressive wins over Justis Huni and Joseph Parker, but Dubois is likely to represent a sterner test.
The London man is aiming to rebuild his career after a shattering loss to Oleksandr Usyk last summer and a win over Wardley would make him world champion again.
Before the Usyk loss, Dubois was seen as one of the most dangerous fighters in the heavyweight division following an incredible run of results that saw him stop Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua, but his world came crashing down when he was stopped for a second time by Usyk.
The whole boxing world is excited by Wardley vs Dubois and the leading names in the sport are queueing up to have their say on the battle.
Roy Jones Jr, a former heavyweight champion, admires both fighters and he has provided his verdict on who will come out on top.
“Fabio Wardley is a very, very tough customer. I've learned to love watching Wardley, and I refuse to ever count him out again,” said Jones Jr when speaking to Grosvenor Casinos.
“Dubois probably is the better boxer, but he had better get Wardley out early, because if the fight gets past round seven, it becomes a Wardley fight. Wardley is a modern-day George Foreman. If Wardley gets to round seven or eight, you can pretty much kiss the baby goodbye.”
