Simon Jordan is set to bring his trademark unfiltered style to DAZN tonight - Friday, May 8 - as he hosts “The Cauldron” ahead of the world heavyweight title fight between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre.
Streaming live on DAZN and the DAZN YouTube channel from 6pm BST, with free entry available for fans attending the event, The Cauldron has been designed to give supporters a more intense and unpredictable build up to fight night.
Known for his outspoken broadcasting style and strong opinions across football and boxing, Jordan has become an increasingly recognisable figure within fight coverage and will now take centre stage during one of British boxing’s biggest heavyweight events.
The Cauldron has been created by DAZN to give fans an extra layer of access and tension before the opening bell.
Rather than another routine media session filled with familiar answers, the format will place both fighters together in front of a live audience for one final confrontation before they step into the ring.
“The object is to perhaps have a different conversation with the two fighters together,” Jordan explained. “Ask them questions others haven’t asked and try and get some jeopardy into the conversation.”
Jordan believes the live setting and direct questioning will create a more honest and unpredictable atmosphere than the standard fight week format.
The broadcaster admitted the concept naturally comes with risk given the tension surrounding a major heavyweight fight just hours before the opening bell, but said that unpredictability is part of what makes the event appealing.
Jordan also revealed that the scale of the occasion and the appeal of Wardley versus Dubois ultimately convinced him to take on the role after initially having doubts about it.
Fans inside the venue will also play a part throughout the show, with Jordan promising an interactive atmosphere as both heavyweights are pushed outside their comfort zones before fight night.
“They know that I’m a saucy sod that will ask certain questions in a certain way, I’ll be asking them questions they probably won’t like too much” he added.
Fans can watch The Cauldron live tonight from 6pm on DAZN and the DAZN YouTube channel ahead of Wardley vs Dubois.
The WBO world heavyweight title is on the line for Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois this Saturday, May 9, only on DAZN PPV.
