It marks a return to Wembley Stadium for Dubois, who previously dismantled Anthony Joshua there in his last bout back in September, while it marks a first visit for Usyk .

But just what is the history behind England's national venue, home to some of the country's greatest sporting pastimes and cultural watersheds? DAZN News takes a look at all the details.

What is Wembley Stadium?

Wembley Stadium is a 90,000-capacity multi-purpose sports venue located within the London Borough of Brent, part of London, United Kingdom.

The national stadium for England, and often referred to as the home of football, it is the largest stadium in the country and second in Europe, after Barcelona's Camp Nou.

It serves as the permanent "home" venue for the England national football team and hosts other regular sporting events as well as one-off fixtures and musical concerts.

When did Wembley Stadium open?

Wembley Stadium opened on March 9, 2007 , the better part of two decades ago following a four-year construction process, having originally broken ground in 2003.

Designed as a replacement for the original Wembley Stadium, it was built on the site of the former ground, which shuttered its doors in 2000 and was demolished in 2002.

The project cost a then-£789 million to finance and complete, and was designed with the now-iconic Wembley Arch, which serves as a major landmark of the city's skyline.

What boxing events has Wembley Stadium hosted?

Since opening its doors, Wembley Stadium has hosted a handful of major boxing events, with each helping to deliver both record-breaking gates and historic moments.

It first held the unified super middleweight rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves in 2014, before Anthony Joshua versus Wladimir Klitschko in 2017.

Joshua defeated Alexander Povetkin a year later at the stadium, before Tyson Fury stopped Dillian Whyte in 2022. Joshua then lost to Dubois in September 2024.

In addition to boxing, Wembley Stadium is most recognisable as a football venue, hosting the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Football League Play-Offs Finals each season.

Additionally, it is the home of the England football team for home fixtures, hosts games for the NFL International Series and rugby league's Challenge Cup Final.

It is also a popular concert destination for major tours, having hosted shows by Blur, Taylor Swift and AC/DC, with Oasis and Coldplay both set for record-breaking gigs too.

Will Wembley Stadium host any other future fight cards?

Wembley Stadium is currently not scheduled to host any further boxing cards right now, but could yet play host to another major domestic encounter before the year is out.

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn's rematch has been mooted for a move to the venue, after their first bout was held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April.

If so, it would become the fourth all-British bout to take place at the national stadium, following Froch-Groves II, Fury-White III and Joshua-Dubois.
