But the fight could also have major implications for the careers of both women when they finally go head-to-head at Madison Square Garden.

On the latest instalment of JABS, Chris Mannix and Sergio Mora debated who out of Taylor and Serrano needed the win more. 

"Amanda Serrano because she is going to be in her hometown, her own element, she is going to be in Madison Square Garden," Mora said.

"Everything is pointing toward Amanda Serrano needing this and anytime you’re going to be dealing with your hometown, your hometown crowd and your fans, you have that extra need to want to impress.

"Sometimes that can work against you, sometimes it can work for you.

"I think Amanda Serrano is going to be hungrier, she needs to look great and spectacular, she has the whole Jake Paul push going for her.

"She needs to make a statement against the best fighter in the world in Katie Taylor on the biggest stage."

Mannix on the other hand put the case forward for the defending champion Taylor who is beginning to receive some criticism after a some lacklustre performances in her last few fights. 

"I’m going to go with Katie Taylor because while Taylor is number one pound-for-pound in most credible rankings, the last couple of fights you’ve heard some whispers about decline," Mannix claimed.

"Katie hasn’t been as dominant as she’s looked at different times earlier in her career, began kind of in 2019 with that close win over Delfine Persoon, a close win in a rematch a couple of years later.

"You’ve got women like Mikaela Mayer pointing out that Katie has not really fully adapted to that ‘pro’ style that other women including Amanda Serrano need.

"If Katie winds up losing a fight like this, there’s going to be people, right or wrong, that call Katie Taylor ‘overrated’ and say she wasn’t as good as we made her out to be.

"So I think Taylor needs this fight a little bit more to quieten the critics that have been coming after her over the last couple of years."
