WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol has been in a state of limbo since his win against Craig Richards in May with no news as to when the Russian is expected to return to the ring.

Bivol was initially rumoured to be facing unified super middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez before the Mexican secured a fight with IBF 168lbs champion Caleb Plant, but there is another Mexican who wants to take on Bivol, Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez.

On the latest instalment of JABS, Sergio Mora advised Bivol to wait for a potential clash with the pound-for-pound king.

"He should wait he should wait because fortune favours the brave, but it also favours the patient man, especially in this sport where one fight can derail big plans," Mora said.

"Wait for the big name the cash cow and that's Canelo because Bivol did what he had to do as a world champion."

"He's 30 years old. He's undefeated. All you have to do now hold on to that zero hold on to the belt, it's time to cash in."

As expected, Mannix disagreed with Mora's assesesement and believes Bivol needs to keep challenging himself and stop thinking about a potential fight with Canelo.

"That's just the worst attitude to take. He should hold on to that zero and cash in? So he shouldn't take on any challenges until he winds up facing Canelo Alvarez if that ever happens," Mannix stated.

"Zurdo Ramirez is here right now. And Zurdo is a legitimate former title holder undefeated with a big fan base in Southern California. That is a marquee fight for Bivol."

"It can't happen this year. But why not? Early next year, step in the ring against Ramirez in January or February. And if you win, you'll have a lot more momentum going into a potential Canelo fight."

Mannix then went onto predict the outcome of a potential light heavyweight showdown between Bivol and Ramirez.

"I would favourite Bivol to win that fight, Ramirez is good, but Bivol is one of the best tactical boxers in and around that weight class. I say go to Ramirez and then see where the chips fall."
