The second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs is in high gear, and the intensity is ramping up with each passing game. You can watch every game of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs live on DAZN (except in the US and Canada).
Wednesday's sole game delivered an exciting finish, sending the top seed in the West to the Conference Finals.
Things were looking good for the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5. They were down 3-0 in the first period against the Minnesota Wild, and a Game 6 in Minneapolis appeared to be on the horizon. But the Avalanche showed the heart of a champion on Wednesday.
They roared back to send the game into overtime with goals by Jack Drury and Nathan MacKinnon. And then late-season addition Brett Kulak scored the series-clinching goal at the 3:52 mark of the extra session to give the Avalanche a 4-3 victory. The Avalanche won the series 4-1.
Kulak was acquired on Feb. 24 from the Pittsburgh Penguins. The goal by Kulak was the 16th different player to score for the Avalanche in the series.
"For us to play the way we did and get the job done, and just for me, a special goal in my career, for sure," Kulak said after the game. "We just clawed back into it and got the job done."
Now, Colorado will get a bit of a break, as the other Western Conference semi-final between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Anaheim Ducks is still ongoing. Vegas leads 3-2 and looks to close the series out on Thursday.
