After losing Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Carolina Hurricanes are back on track and are racing towards a Stanley Cup Finals showdown with the Vegas Golden Knights as Frederik Andersen recorded his third shutout in 12 games of this year's postseason.
With his 18 saves giving Carolina a 4-0 victory over Montreal, Anderson's heroics mean Carolina now leads 3-1 in the series.
Carolina set the tone in the opening 2:47 with three goals by Sebastian Aho, Jordan Staal, and Logan Stankoven, and never looked back to seize control of not only the game but the Eastern Conference Finals.
"It's great to come out like a team like this and perform like that, but I think at this time of the year, you can't bring your B-game," Stankoven told reporters after the game. "You have to bring your A-game every night."
With the win on Thursday evening, the Hurricanes are now 11-1 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"To be honest, it doesn't feel like 11-1," Gostisbehere said. "We take a one-game-at-a-time approach. I know it's cliché, but you're not looking at an overall record but just the next game.
"Obviously, Game 1, we didn't have what we needed, and we figured it out, fortunately. And obviously, the fourth one is the hardest one to win. So it's just going to be more of the same."
Game 5 is Friday night in Raleigh, North Carolina.
