The former two-weight UFC champion has not fought professionally since a loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021 at UFC 264, and holds a 22-6 record in the Octagon.

But seven years after his only professional boxing bout, a tenth round TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr, the Irishman claims that he is lined up to face the YouTuber-turned-wrestler.

The bout will reportedly be bankrolled by the family of billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani, with McGregor also defusing suggestions he is set to face Ilia Topuria.

The rumors of a bout with Topurio are false," he wrote on X. "I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. 

"I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon."

Paul is the brother of Jake Paul, who most recently fought against Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in November, in an anticipated fight that ultimately was derided as a letdown.

The former has fought two professional bouts in his career with a 1-1 record, and also faced Mayweather in a non-scored eight-round exhibition in 2021.

He has mostly made his name since as a professional wrestler however with the WWE, where he was United States Champion between 2023 and 2024.
