Former two-division champion Conor McGregor pulled out of his comeback fight versus Michael Chandler two weeks before the event after he suffered an injury to his foot. After the nature of the injury became public information, everyone began to question his need to withdraw. One of the critics of that was his former three-time opponent, Dustin Poirier.

“A pinky toe? I fought with so much injuries,” Poirier said on The MMA Hour. “Like Conor said, he’s fought with so many injuries, I fought with so many injuries over the years, but a pinky toe doesn’t seem like a reason to pull out of a fight. Giving him his respect, I also don’t know the severity of it.”

The last time McGregor fought injured was in his last fight, a 2021 bout with Poirier. In that fight, he broke his leg and hasn't fought since. The feud between Poirier and McGregor stemming from that fight and their previous one forced Poirier to speak out now.

“He crossed lines you can’t come back from,” Poirier said. “I want to whip his a— (when I see the Tweets). He’s trying to bring that out of me. He wants me to fire back. I’m just like, ‘Nah.’ Of course I want to say something back and try to set up a fight with him, but it is what it is. We have a lot of back-and-forth over the years, since 2014.”

Neither McGregor nor Poirier have fights booked at the moment.
