'Like a storm!' - Lewis McGrillen-Evans compares personal and professional evolution within MMA world

Lewis McGrillen-Evans believes MMA has grown alongside his own evolution as a fighter ahead of his PFL Europe Bantamweight Tournament final versus Alexander Luster.

The McGrizzla will contest for the belt at LDLC Arena in Lyon, France this weekend as part of 2024 PFL Europe Championship, with the event set to be broadcast live around the globe on DAZN.

The Manchester-based fighter is still a young star among the sport's names, at just 24, and only turned professional in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic four years ago.

Speaking to DAZN News on the growth of the sport, McGrillen-Evans admits that he feels there has been growth to both how MMA operates as a sport in tandem with his own ascent.

"The sport has evolved within itself," he said. "MMA is its own sport, its own martial art. Back in the day, you had to train for wrestling at a wrestling gym, or box at a boxing gym.

"Now, I’ve got to the point where I’m part of a new generation where it is all blended into one. I felt like my evolution within this sport is just to keep going, and going, and going.

"[The PFL] has been great,. They look after you. They’re the first proper big shows I’ve ever been on. Opportunities have been blessed upon me, and I can’t thank them enough.

"I feel as I've grown in my career, my regime and my mentality, I'd like to say I’m maturing. I’m learning every day and I’m evolving. I feel like I’ve not really showcased enough.

"I’ve not shown one-hundred percent Lewis yet. I feel like I need to be switched on, and I’ll find a way [to win]. I’m like a storm – you can’t always weather it, and I’ll take you out."
