A 2-2 draw in the second leg of the 2021-22 UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finals was enough for Paris Saint-Germain to advance over visiting Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The teams played 120 minutes at the Parc des Princes as extra time was needed to determine the winner, with Bayern pushing the home side to the limit before falling 4-3 on aggregate.

A tightly-contested first half in Wednesday's second leg was defined by a frenzied couple of minutes in which both teams found the back of the net. First up was PSG's Sandy Baltimore, who scored the game's opening goal in the 17th minute, only for Bayern defender Saki Kumagai to pull her side level in the 19th minute.

Neither team would score again until early in the second half, when Klara Bühl executed a nice run down the left flank before cutting in and putting a shot past Paris goalkeeper Barbora Votíková to put the visitors ahead.

Bühl's 54th-minute goal gave Bayern a 2-1 lead, matching the result claimed by the Parisians in the first leg. With neither side able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the 90 minutes, extra time was required to decide the tie.

The extra time period seemed to proceed in a similar manner to the rest of the match, with both teams evenly matched and looking for a mistake or moment of brilliance to give them the edge. It was the latter the pushed PSG over the top, as Ramona Bachmann received a cross from Ashley Lawrence near the penalty spot in the 112th minute and turned past a defender before firing the ball through another Bayern player's legs and inside the far post below a diving Janina Leitzig in goal.

Bachmann's strike was the equaliser on the night but the decider over the two legs, with PSG now moving on to the semi-finals.
