Jamie O'Hara can't see a way back into the current England set-up for Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling.

The Blues star was again a notable omission from Gareth Southgate's England squad for this week's international friendlies, making it increasingly unlikely that Sterling will be part of Euro 2024 this summer.

Sterling hasn't played for England since the World Cup in 2022, and although he has sympathy for the 29-year-old over his club form, O'Hara told Grosvenor Sports he can't see him winning back his place in the Three Lions squad.

“I saw Raheem Sterling was booed by Chelsea fans on the weekend and I think that’s poor,” O'Hara said on this week's episode of The Counter Attack.

“I hope he does get to play for England again because I think he gets a hard time and he’s never really disappointed on the international stage.

"Yes, he flatters to deceive in some games and he hasn’t been putting in stellar performances since he joined Chelsea, but he’s playing in a really average Chelsea side. You can't get away from the fact that he’s had a great career and he knows what he’s about.

“Having said that, I think he needs to have a massive season to get back into that England side. I think Gareth Southgate’s moved on from him. It’s sad because he’s still got things to offer, but I do think he’s moved on from him.”
