Jamie Gullan scored twice against his former club as promoted St Johnstone beat Raith 2-0 at McDiarmid Park to open up a 10-point lead at the top of the William Hill Championship.
Midfielder Gullan, who joined the Saints from Raith last summer, converted a penalty and curled home a superb free-kick before half-time to notch his 12th and 13th league goals of the season.
The Saints, who sealed an immediate return to the SPremiership with two games remaining on Tuesday with a 2-0 win at Dunfermline, made it four wins in a row and extended their unbeaten league run to 13 matches.
Gullan fired Simo Valakari’s Perthshire side into a 21st-minute lead from the penalty spot after Ross Matthews’ challenge on Kai Fotheringham.
And after Raith’s Lewis Stevenson fouled Josh Fowler within striking distance four minutes before half-time, Gullan struck his second and 17th in all competitions this season with a superbly taken free-kick.
