What are the shortest managerial reigns in Premier League history?

Liam Rosenior became the latest manager to be shown the exit door on Tuesday, as he was relieved of his duties as Chelsea boss after just four months in charge of the club.

Despite a bright start to his tenure, during which he was nominated for Manager of the Month, the recent run of five straight defeats was enough for the club to pull the trigger and end his time in West London.

Rosenior lasted 107 days as Blues boss, which still falls way short of the shortest managerial stints in Premier League history.

DAZN News counts down the gaffers at the wrong end of that list, whose time in charge didn't last very long at all.

Javi Gracia (Leeds United 2022-23) - 69 days

It was a season of a major managerial merry-go-round for Leeds in 2022-23, having started the season with Jesse Marsch before turning to former Watford boss Gracia in February.

With Leeds battling at the wrong end of the table, Gracia failed to turn the tide as quickly as the owners were looking for, despite boasting three wins in his 12 games in charge.

The Spanish boss was shown the door after just 69 days, with the club in 17th place in the table.

Igor Tudor (Tottenham 2025-26) - 44 days

A somewhat baffling appointment from the off, Tudor was the man chosen by Spurs to steer them away from the relegation mire, but the Croatian only made things worse for the North London side.

He oversaw just one win in seven matches - a second leg win over Atletico Madrid, which still saw the club exit the competition - and continued the club's wretched run of failing to win a league game in 2026.

The nadir of his run was the bizarre night in Madrid, where his team selections were fully exposed, and he was finally given the boot following a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Les Read (Charlton 2006-07) - 40 days

Read's unwanted name in Premier League folklore had stood firm for nearly two decades, thanks to his short spell in the spotlight with the Addicks.

He took over from Iain Dowie after Charlton's disappointing start to the campaign, but the former assistant only managed to pick up four points in seven games and was quickly moved on.

The club famously delivers the news on Christmas Eve, proving that football never gives in to the festive spirit.

Ange Postecoglou (Nottingham Forest 2025-26) - 39 days

Forest are now onto their fourth manager of the season, a new league record, but easily the most head-scratching appointment was throwing Big Ange into the mix after Nuno Espirito Santo's departure.

Given the Australians ' distinctive style and system, he was unable to implement his ways onto a Forest squad built in the complete opposite mould for the previous manager.

His reign lasted just eight winless games, and following a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, it took owner Evangelos Marinakis just 19 minutes after the final whistle to sack Postecoglou.

Sam Allardyce (Leeds United 2022-23) - 30 days

There's always a place for Big Sam in the Premier League history books, but he probably isn't too pleased that he holds this record.

Drafted in towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign, Leeds were looking for a last-minute firefighter job to save them from relegation, but even Allardyce couldn't work his magic in that short space of time.

He picked up just one point from his four games in charge and his contract wasn't renewed after the end of the season, making his 30 days the shortest of any permanent boss.
