Rival managers happy with a point after Lincoln and Huddersfield draw

Lincoln boss Michael Skubala and Huddersfield counterpart Lee Grant both came away from an energetic 1-1 draw at Sincil Bank feeling they had claimed a good point against in-form opposition.

Lincoln had to fight back from behind to take their unbeaten run to seven games – the longest in League One.

The Terriers went ahead thanks to Leo Castledine’s header in the 61st minute, with Adam Reach equalising eight minutes later.

Skubala said: “In the circumstances and over the 90 minutes, I think it’s a good point.

“Huddersfield are a good team, they’re a big club – but I would say, I thought they couldn’t cope with us first half. I thought we did everything right. We were electric.

“We got after them, and other than the final finish, we created enough to score. We should have gone in at half time in front.

“I think if we had scored first in this game, I think it would have become two and we’d have gone on to win the game.

“But Huddersfield are a really good team – they’ve scored 10 goals in their last three games and they’ve dominated teams over this last period as well, so don’t underestimate how good they are.

“The second half is a bit more even, and we get caught out by some quality down the right.

“But when you go 1-0 down, especially after the games we’ve had on the road and all those types of things, to get it back to 1-1, I think that makes it a good point.”

Huddersfield remain fourth in the table and are now six games without a defeat in the league.

Grant said: “It felt like two teams that had good energy, two teams that believed in themselves, two teams that were going to back themselves.

“Of course, we’d have loved to come out with three points rather than one, but you have to say Lincoln have pushed and fought, and the pressure that they can put on teams.

“I love the way that after the first couple of duels – which I wasn’t happy with, in all honesty, and I made that clear at half time – they settled into what was going to be needed in the game.

“We fought for everything, won second balls and first contacts, dealt with their long throws, all of that. I thought we handled it and got to grips with it really, really well.

“There’s a part of me that’s really disappointed that their goal comes from one of those sort of half moments and it drops, and we get a clearance, and we get bodies around it, and we don’t quite manage to clear the decks.

“But look, I can’t fault the players’ effort in general.”
