AFC Bournemouth played a good first half at home against Premier League-leading Liverpool on Sunday, entering the half-time break with a 0-0 score.

Then things fell apart for the Cherries.

Darwin Nunez scored the game's opening goal in the 49th minute, then Diogo Jota struck in each of the 70th and 79th minutes. Not to be outdone by his teammate, Nunez completed his own brace with a stoppage-time goal to give Liverpool a four-goal victory.

For Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, the difference between the sides was stark and it came down to how they approached the final 45 minutes.

"I think they were much better in the second half and were much more intense," Iraola told Sky Sports.

"They were winning the second duels and were much more clinical. We had corners and some shots but didn't score the goal when it was still 0-0. In the end they were better.

"We have to be at our best to compete with this opposition. We kept the game quite level for a while but as soon as we conceded the first goal probably, they did things more quickly and they made us pay."

Iraola reiterated the differences in intensity between the two sides as the main factor behind Liverpool's ability to run away with the match in the second half, stating that his team were simply unable to maintain the same level as their visitors over the course of the entire game.

"They were more intense," he said.

"We weren't so aggressive or made the fouls that we needed to make. The physicality they put into the game you have to match. We did this for a lot of minutes but didn't keep that level."
