Managers and coaches will have the March international break to run the rule over their players one last time before final pre-tournament camps begin at the end of May, meaning this month will be the last chance for many players to prove their worth.

Coaching staffs around the world will then pare down their player pools in advance of the tournament, eventually whittling their respective squads down to the final list of players who will represent their nations in Canada, Mexico and the United States this summer.

But when will the teams announce their final squads? And how many players will each side be allowed to take to the World Cup?

When are full squads announced for FIFA World Cup 26?

Participating nations are free to announce their final squads at any time, but the final date to do so is Monday, June 1.

Each team must submit their final squad list to FIFA by Saturday, May 30.

How many players are each team allowed to bring to the World Cup?

Final World Cup squads cannot exceed 26 players per team. However, each team will be allowed to carry up to nine extra players for training purposes until the team's first World Cup match.

When do clubs have to release players for the World Cup?

Clubs must release players for World Cup duty no later than Monday, May 25.

Exemptions are given for players in continental club finals up until Saturday, May 30. This would include players in the UEFA Champions League final (May 30), UEFA Conference League final (May 27) and the CONCACAF Champions Cup final (May 30).
