Wolves have played 17 matches and claimed just two points so far. If it's not obvious, that means they have yet to earn a single victory during the current campaign, and have in fact had the same number of managers as points earned in 2025-26.

While the club seems a near certainty for relegation, their current run could go down in infamy.

How many points will Wolves earn at their current pace?

As mentioned above, their current point total stands at just two after 17 Premier League matches, good for 0.125 points per game (PPG) so far.

Projected over a full 38-game season, Wolves would collect just 4.75 points in total. Of course, there are no fractions or decimal points where the Premier League table is concerned so we can generously round that up to five points, which means Wolves are on pace for just a single victory or three more draws for the rest of the campaign.

Given how things have gone thus far, we wouldn't bet on the victory!

How does Wolves' current points pace compare with historically bad Premier League teams?

Derby County still hold the record for fewest points in a single Premier League season after finishing with just 11 points in the 2007-08 campaign.

The Rams' historic ineptitude worked out to 0.29 PPG, which is more than double Wolves' current PPG.

Interestingly, the five worst-performing Premier League sides have all come from the 38-game era as the next two worst-performing teams are Ipswich Town (1994-95) and Swindon Town (1993-94), who earned 27 and 30 points, respectively, during their 42-game seasons.

Could Wolves' form improve over the rest of the season?

One of the most endearing characteristics of this sport is that anything can happen. Teams can go on hot streaks and cold streaks at any time, and such is definitely the case in the Premier League.

With that being said, it's still hard to see Wolves getting much better over the remainder of the campaign.

At best, they could hope to recreate Sheffield United's 2020-21 season as the Blades secured two points over their first 17 games just like this Wolves team has done. The Blades then picked up 21 points over their final 21 matches — a respectable finish but one that still put them in dead last in the season-ending standings.

How tough is Wolves' remaining fixture list? 

Unfortunately for Rob Edwards, things don't get much easier for his side from here on out.

Wolves finish 2025 with trips to Anfield and Old Trafford where they'll face a resurgent Liverpool and improving Manchester United, respectively, before the calendar flips over to 2026. 

A frantic January consists of five league games, with a visit to Manchester City the highlight. February sees Wolves face Chelsea, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace — all top 8 teams — while March brings about another Liverpool encounter and a visit from Arsenal. The final five weeks of season offer a bit of a respite as they'll only meet two sides in the current top 10, but by then Wolves will have likely already secured relegation and lost any reason to go all out to end the campaign.

Statistically, Wolves' remaining fixture list is among the worst in the Premier League, making their road to respectability even harder than usual.
