Yarde has operated at light heavyweight since making his professional debut in May 2015 and has fought twice for a world title at 175lbs. 

His first world title challenge was an unsuccessful bid against WBO champion Sergey Kovalev in 2019 before losing to unified champion Artur Beterbiev last year. 

Yarde has since bouced back from that loss to Beterbiev with a knockout win over Jorge Silva in September and while there are still some big fights to be made for Yarde at light heavyweight, his trainer and manager Tunde Ajayi believes that a move to cruiserweight could also be on the cards. 

"There are some great fights, some great possibilities for Anthony primarily as the fighter and myself as the manager and trainer to explore. We were even talking about big fights up at cruiserweight," Ajayi told Sky Sports. 

Ajayi then went onto call out the WBO world cruiserweight champion for a possible meeting with Yarde. 

"I would even go so far, if you put the right proposal to Anthony now, he'll fight Chris Billam-Smith tomorrow. 100 million percent."

If Yarde and his team decide to not move up to cruiserweight anytime soon, there will be no surprise if he looks to face the winner of Joshua Buatsi vs. Dan Azeez who finally meet in an all-British clash on February 3.
