The two British rivals first met last January in Manchester and it was Smith who emerged victorious with a fourth round stoppage. 

Eubank Jr then went onto activate his rematch clause with the matchup scheduled to take place in June. 

However, a request from Smith's camp saw the contest pushed back to July 1 before another injury to 'Beefy' in training camp resulted in the fight being postponed once more. 

There were rumours that the two British middleweights would go their separate ways with no rematch date in sight, but now it looks like Smith and Eubank Jr will finally settle the score later this year if Eubank Jr's Twitter account is to be believed. 

"Eubank vs Smith 2 at the 02 September 2nd @LiamBeefySmith #LetsDoThis #NoMoreExcuses #Revenge," Eubank Jr wrote. 

If a new date for the Smith vs. Eubank Jr rematch could not have been agreed, there was a chance that Eubank Jr would once more pursue a fight with Conor Benn.
