After both fighters weighed, they engaged in an intense staredown. Haney was staring a hole through Abdullaev, while the latter smiled during the entire exchange. Haney and Abdullaev were pulled away by their respective camps. 

Haney (22-0, 14 KOs) looks for the first major world title of his career. The 20-year-old is coming off a knockout of the year candidate, pulverizing Antonio Moran in the seventh round in May in his first main event. 

Abdullaev (11-0, 7 KOs) fights in the United States for the first time; all of his bouts have occurred in his native Russia.
