The all-action WBO super featherweight world champion will attempt to unify titles for the first time in his career Saturday night when he clashes with IBF titleholder Eduardo ‘Sugar’ Nunez at Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, and live on DAZN.

Over the course of Navarrete building himself into a hard-hitting, three-division world champion, the 31-year-old Mexican warrior has provided boxing fans with plenty of stellar moments in the ring.

Navarrete gets most savory knockout yet with emphatic stoppage of Oscar Valdez in rematch; December 2024

After producing a unanimous decision over Valdez in August 2023, Navarrete made it clear that he did not want the rematch to go the distance. Against his fiercest rival yet, ‘Vaquero’ came out looking for blood as he dropped Valdez during the opening round with a sweeping right to the temple.

A sharp right would make Valdez taste the canvas in the fourth round as well before Navarrete put the finishing touches on the fight with a ferocious left hook liver shot to end the bout in the sixth. The emphatic win gave Navarrete his third title defense.

Navarrete suffers hard-fought loss in move up to lightweight; May 2024

Even in a loss, Navarrete produces a memorable fight. In daring to be greater, Navarrete moved up to challenge Denys Berinchyk for the vacant WBO lightweight title. Although he fell short via a split-decision loss, it was not for a lack of effort.

The fight was sloppy at times, though Berinchyk did a pointed job of getting under Navarrete’s looping punches enough to outpunch the Mexican to the championship victory.

'Vaquero' stops Liam Wilson to become WBO super featherweight world champion; February 2023

What makes Navarrete an intriguing fighter to watch is that he swings so violently hard at times that it leaves him vulnerable.

This was on display during the fourth round against Liam Wilson when he got caught in traffic with a left hook which dazed him before the Australian underdog followed up and made sure the Mexican hit the canvas.

Navarrete would launch an overhand right to drop Wilson during the ninth before unloading a barrage that made the referee halt the action in a Fight of the Year candidate. The rousing victory made Navarrete the WBO super featherweight world champion — a title he still holds today.

Becoming a two-weight world champion; October 2020

Navarrete had strung together five successful defenses of his WBO junior featherweight world championship — all by knockout — and even won a non-title matchup before vying to become a two-division world champion.

‘Vaquero’ dazzled at the MGM Grand Conference Center by generating two crushing knockdowns to power his unanimous decision over Ruben Villa in crowning himself with the then-vacant WBO featherweight world championship.

The first knockdown came in the first round via an awkward, off-rhythm left uppercut from the orthodox stance. The second knockdown was detonated during the fourth round when Navarrete ducked under harm’s way, rose up and unleashed an explosive left hook which crumbled Villa to the canvas. The heavy-handed artillery more than paved the way to the points win as the Mexican fighter added to his growing legacy.

Navarrete bullies Isaac Dogboe to become world champion for the first time; December 2018

Navarrete had never fought outside of his native Mexico prior to this point. For this bout, not only was the 23-year-old rising star fighting inside the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, but he was doing it as a mandatory challenger underdog against WBO junior featherweight world champion Isaac Dogboe.

Fighting on the biggest stage of his career to that point, Navarrete responded by beating down Dogboe to take a comfortable unanimous decision and be crowned a world champion for the first time.

Dogboe would activate a rematch, but would suffer a worse fate as Navarrete defeated him roughly five months later via a punctuating 12^th-round TKO, proving his first victory was far from a one off.
