Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller is perhaps the most charismatic fighter in all of boxing. He's quick-witted with one-liners and is always willing to put himself out there, even at the expense of Miller. He was known for his supreme cardio and better-than-average power, which put him at the precipice of the boxing world when Miller was scheduled to face then-unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in 2019 at Madison Square Garden.
But Miller's world came crashing down, failing multiple drug tests and not getting the fight he long desired. Now, Miller (27-1-2, 21 KOs) is back on track. After losing to Daniel Dubois, Miller fought to a highly controversial majority draw against Andy Ruiz in a fight everyone felt the New York native should have won, and beat Kingsley Ibeh at the end of January at Madison Square Garden in a bout where Miller's hairpiece came off. That win catapulted Miller into a main event tilt against Lenier Paro on Saturday, April 25 at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, live and exclusively on DAZN.
The stakes are high for Miller in his return to the main event scene, and he understands what is on the line.
"I'm going to run him the f—k over," Miller said at a press conference on Thursday. "I'm going back to the old Big Baby for this fight. Seventy to eighty punches a round. He's gonna try to box me and be all pretty. I've already seen some of the stuff he's been doing in the gym. I'm going to beat the brakes off his a—."
Paro is ranked number two by the WBA. The fact this fight is a title eliminator means that if Miller gets the win, it could be him fighting for heavyweight gold in the not-too-distant future. With a promise to return to his old form, "Big Baby" believes he's a strong favorite to leave the home of Sin City on the cusp of a title shot.
"Any fighter that's willing to get in that ring over 200 pounds has a puncher's chance," Miller said. "I've never slept on any one of my opponents. I never have taken anybody lightly. It was a shorter camp last time, but I've been in the gym since that fight. We still in the gym. Look a lot leaner. I've been laying off the cheeseburgers. The main thing is come April 25, I beat that a—".
