Connor McDavid

Is it really even close? For nearly a decade, McDavid has been the league's best player. Everything he does, from skating to stick handling to his shot and putting into the net, is the best in the NHL. That type of play has helped McDavid lead the Edmonton Oilers to back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals. All that's left for McDavid to accomplish is to hold up the most prestigious trophy in the NHL.

Auston Matthews

The best pure scorer in the NHL. Matthews has scored over 60 goals in two of the last four seasons for the Toronto Maple Leafs. With the departure of Mitch Marner to Vegas, expect Matthews to have the puck a lot more, which could result in another 60-goal campaign or perhaps even more shots making it behind the net.

Cale Makar

You can't have a top players list without a defenseman. And Makar is quite arguably the best defenseman in the NHL. Makar, whose won the Norris Trophy for best defenseman in two of the last four seasons, can play at both ends of the ice and not miss a beat. He's the best puck handler in the league and can create opportunities for his Colorado Avalanche teammates from anywhere on the ice.

Nikita Kucherov

Kucherov was sensational in the 2024-2025 campaign for the Tampa Bay Lightning as he registered 37 goals 84 assists for 121 total points. Add in his +33 while on the ice and it just exemplifies how great a season Kucherov had.
