On Tuesday, Bellator MMA announced its Bellator 244 card, which was slated to take place June 6 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, has been postponed due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak in addition to federal, state and local government mandates.

The card was supposed to be headlined by Michael Chandler and Benson Henderson in a rematch. Chandler had delivered a hard-fought split decision win over Henderson back in November 2016 in San Jose, Calif.

"The organization will continue to monitor the situation closely and fully intends to reschedule the event as soon as possible," Bellator officials said in a statement. "As always, the health and safety of our athletes, fans, partners and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate the understanding and patience of everyone involved during this incredibly difficult time."

Bellator's announcement came a day after the UFC canceled its planned April 25 and May 2 cards due to COVID-19, but still is moving forward with its UFC 249 event on May 9 at a yet to be named location.

Monday also had the Professional Fighters League announce that its upcoming 2020 season has been rescheduled to spring 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
