Five things you may not have known about the Derby della Mole ahead of Juventus vs Torino

The final Serie A round before November's international break brings another full programme from Italy's top division, full of narratives up and down the fixture list.
None more so than in Turin, where the city prepares itself for the first meeting of the season between Juventus and Torino.
It's a derby, perhaps not as lauded as some of the others in the league, but like any city rivalry the games between the two sides are always two of the biggest dates in the calendar.
Ahead of Saturday's meeting, here are five things you may not know about the Derby della Mole.
It's Italy's oldest city derby
While the derbies between the two Milan clubs and Rome's Derby della Capitale are perhaps more revered, especially to those outside Italy, the Turin derby actually predates any other one-city rivalry.
The first meeting between the two clubs took place on 13 January 1907, after Torino was founded by a group of Juventus dissidents who merged with local team Football Club Torinese.
Since then, Juventus have had the lion's share of success over the years, winning 96 of the 212 official meetings between the two sides across all competitions.
Torino are on a record-breaking losing streak
Juventus have particularly enjoyed dominance in the fixture in recent years, and in fact, Torino are now on the longest winless streak in the history of the rivalry.
Il Toro's last victory against their neighbours came on 26 April 2015, when they beat Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino 2-1 towards the end of the Serie A season.
Ironically, that was their first victory in twenty years over Juve, but in terms of games, it's now been a record 22 meetings without a win for Torino.
The heyday of the Bull
It's not always been one-sided, and there have been periods when Torino did have bragging rights over The Old Lady.
Most notably in the early 1970s, when Juventus remained without a win in the derby for nearly six years during a period when Torino were contesting at the top of Serie A, winning the title in 1976 - the last time the club were champions.
Going further back, there was a period between 1912 and 1914, where The Bull of Torino put 23 goals past their rivals, including an 8-0 win, which is the biggest margin of victory ever recorded in the Derby della Mole.

A foot in both camps
Over the years, 33 players have appeared for both Turin clubs, the most recent of which was Rolando Mandragora, who had a loan spell with Torino in 2021 from Juve.
Some of the big names to don both famous shirts include Christian Vieri, Ciro Immobile, Dino Baggio and Fabio Quagliarella. For lovers of random names, former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger also appeared for both sides of the city.
The British player to play in the fixture the most times is Welsh legend John Charles, who played against Torino on five occasions during his time with Juventus.
Messing with Salas
There have been plenty of incidents between the two sides over the years, but one of the most famous encounters came in the two games during the 2001-02 season.
In the first meeting, Torino came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3, but it's best remembered for the Marcelo Salas penalty miss that could have settled the game in Juve's favour. The controversy came after Riccardo Maspero dug a groove in the penalty spot before the Chilean took the kick, ultimately contributing to the miss.
Juventus, however, got their own back in the return fixture, scoring a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw and goalscorer Enzo Maresca celebrated by parodying the 'horns of the bull', Torino's club symbol.
